“I imagine a Twin Cities where…all students and their stories are valued and celebrated.”
Lately, at the Mid-Continent Oceanographic Institute, we've been spending a lot of time talking and writing about our vision for the Twin Cities community. Sometimes, that vision involves PlayStations for everyone.
Sometimes, it involves educational equity. Sometimes it involves a caring community of adults supporting our youth. All of our visions have something in common: the students.
Each year, MOI serves over 1,400 students. Since beginning our programs less than a month ago, we've provided over 200 hours of free tutoring to Twin Cities youth. Throughout our five programs, we place student voices at the center of our work. And while we spend a lot of time talking about our volunteers—who help keep our programs afloat—we wanted to take some time today to thank our generous donors.
Recently, we set sail into our back-to-school campaign, #WriteOurTwinCities. We encouraged people to consider what their ideal Twin Cities community would look like, and join us as we continue our work toward that ideal.
Now, about a month later, we're pleased to announce that we surpassed our goal. As the campaign comes to a close, we want to say thank you again to our donors, and share some facts about #WriteOurTwinCities.
