How does it feel to be Crew Member of the month?
It’s an honor!
What program do you volunteer with? Why?
I’m a volunteer illustrator for the Storytelling & Bookmaking Field Trips. I love volunteering because I can sharpen my creative edge while giving back to the community. It’s also fun to hear the students’ ideas while they write stories during their field trip.
How long have you been volunteering?
It’s been a little over three years.
What's your favorite MOI memory?
My favorite memory was the book signing event to celebrate MOI’s first published book, Up, Up, & Away. The book was written by 5th graders from Farnsworth Aerospace who all had their own special book signing table. I got my copy signed by all of the young authors.
What's your favorite mode of transportation?
I love trains! I lived in Japan for two years and I miss train culture. If trains aren’t available, then I like walking or being carried short distances.
If you were an ocean creature, real or imagined, what would you be? Why?
I’d probably be the prehistoric fish that evolved to walk on land because then I’d have options.
What was your favorite book as a K–12 student?
I don't know it was my favorite but White Fang by Jack London was one of the first books that I recall reading. The book struck a chord with me because I fantasized about running away and living out in the woods—away from my loving and caring family.
When you're not diving deep with us at MOI, what do you do?
I’m also a freelance illustrator, graphic designer, and a burgeoning cartoonist. When I’m not drawing, I’m wild about hiking, hearing spooky stories, and playing board games. My favorite is Settlers of Catan.
If your life were a book, what would its title be?
Art, Fart, Love: the Taylor Baldry Story
What's your favorite writing prompt?
My favorite type of prompt is one where you write about one object from different person’s or thing’s point of view.
Select three characters and one object from the list below. Write a 1–3 sentence story from each of the three character’s points of view about that object.
