Introducing our new Executive Director

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce Samantha Sencer-Mura is joining the MOI crew as our new Executive Director.

Samantha is a Minneapolis native who has been working for the past six years in youth development at the nexus of schools and nonprofits. She earned her BA in Critical Theory and Social Justice from Occidental College and recently completed her MA in School Leadership at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She has been a teacher and program administrator in New York, the Bay Area, and Boston.

“I was thrilled to learn that there was an 826 chapter-in-development in the Twin Cities,” Sencer-Mura shares. “I believe strongly in the power of ‘third spaces’ such as MOI to support youth that may be falling through the cracks in our current public school system. These spaces are different from home or school and can connect youth with caring adults in their community who embody the philosophy that it ‘takes a village to raise a child.’ I was impressed by the dedication of the volunteers, staff, and board at MOI, and the powerful relationships they’ve built with schools, families, and students. I’m excited to build on this work, and under my leadership I hope MOI can become a leader in the fight to end the opportunity gap plaguing our cities.”

After exploring both coasts, she is excited to be landlocked and can’t wait to start steering the ship at MOI as the organization continues to thrive and grow. A product of the Minneapolis public schools, Samantha is ecstatic to be back in the Twin Cities giving back to the community that helped raise her.

Our crew looks forward to a new chapter for MOI, and we hope you will join us in extending a warm "wave" and welcome to Samantha.
