Writing New Worlds: A Multilingual Poetry Workshop

  • Mid-Continent Oceanographic Institute 1915 East 22nd Street Minneapolis, MN, 55404 United States (map)

A new and beautiful two part poetry workshop to remember!

This FREE poetry workshop aims to empower multilingual students to unleash the power of their unique voice and perspective. Students will learn to write, perform, and record poetry in two languages—English and their home language—during this two part workshop. Part one will focus on writing, and in part two students will have the opportunity to record their poetry; the date of part two of the workshop is to be determined. This workshop is designed for students in 2nd through 12th grade. Bilingual volunteers will be available to help all students.

Are you fluent in Amharic አማርኛ, Arabic العَرَبِيَّة , Oromo, Somali, or Tigrinya ትግርኛ? Are you interested in volunteering with MOI and helping students write in their home language(s)? Sign up today by filling out our volunteer interest form. $50 stipends are available for multilingual volunteers.
